SAORRA PRESENTATION NIGHT
Dissappointing turn-out for the culmination of the racing year. Don't know what we need to do to get competitors, family and friends to come and support the award winners on their achievements throughout the year. There were also a number of award winners not present, most award winners had received an email to advise that they would be receiving an award. There were some competitors I was not able to advise as I had no information on their contact details.

John (Doc) Smith entertained us with his experiences in his year long stay in Antarctica. Doc had us in stitches with his dentistry tales. John said that before he went to Antarctica he had to do a 10 day crash course in dentistry, his first customer provided us with a very funny tale that involved things that looked like stringless tampons and a suction hose that sucked a bit too effectively.
Doc showed a pic of some white sea birds and 'was asked what the difference between seagulls and sea birds was and he quickly came back with his usual dry wit with 'they don't eat chips'
THANKS DOC FOR A VERY ENTERTAINING EVENING.

MC Lyndon Wilson also told a few entertaining things about his background in motor sport and a couple of great stories one of which involved Nev Day at Sea Lake when others in his class thought his engine was too quick to be a 1600cc so they put in a protest and sure enough Nev's engine was 1599cc so the competitor who protested lost his money.

LOVEDAY

The event was able to proceed, having  21 entries. It was good to see the mix of competitors, some of whom haven't been out for a while, and a few newies included.
The weather was just great over the weekend, the arena section was well watered, keeping dust down, and giving spectators a great view of the pace and agility of some of the vehicles.
Some competitors utilised the ability to better their start position with a second go at prologue, the majority were happy with their first attempt.
With 4 Sections to the event, and competitors needing to complete 70% of the race distance,
There were 14 who classified as finishers, 11 completing the full 7 laps.
Congratulations to outright and class winners, and thanks to all Officials, Volunteers and Stewards

One of off road's hardest workers died this early morning after a long battle with cancer. Dave Walker most commonly known as 'Ten Four' was a gentle giant, you would most often see Dave in his big cowboy hat and the big blonde moustache helping where he was needed at an event If you needed something done, just ask Dave no job was too hard for him.
Dave was a rodeo rider before he came to off road, but after being thrown off the horse a few too many times he got into sand buggys with the Tailem Bend Dune Buggy Club before he eventually bought Graham Gosden's rotary Mazda buggy and so he became an off road racer. He was a long time member of the Adelaide Buggy Club
Dave will be missed by many.
Our sympathy and best wishes to his family and friends

The weather was very cold with the wind on Saturday creating a lot of dust in the wrong places, fortunately Sunday saw the wind come from a different direction however it brought rain and hail making for some very cold racing conditions.

LOVEDAY REPORT - Thanks to Meg Gosden
It was a great weekend of racing at the Gawler Bodyworks Loveday 250. Outright placings: Daryl Nissen/Andrew Harness, Toby Reimann/Craig Redding, Bruce Muir/Mark Hendry. It was very dusty and once Darry got out in front it was impossible to pass. The Cowie boys and Brad Gallard came out to do a test run for Mildura. Number 60 David Hall still has that gremlin with him that blows motors and finishes the race early for him. Gillian Ziembinski was having the time of her life until the cv said that is enough. It was great to see Nev Day back on the track in 197 that he has spent the last few years rebuilding. Unfortuneately he had no joy as a cv gave way soon after the start line and then he had overheating problems. Matthew Curtis had fuel pump issues on the first lap but was able to fix it and finished the next 9 laps in fine style. 256 Mark Taylor had a wheel that decided to part company with the buggy but was still able to be a finisher 3 rd in class. Blake Smith blitzed the field in the prologue lap and had turbo line problems. It was stange to watch Brad Gallard in his new truck as it is so quiet compared to his old one. He struggled to make it and then a sensor went into limp mode. Mark Hannaford was enjoying himself until his engine expired. Nick Burt and his son Alexander were out racing for the first time in offroad after leaving the go karts and motor bike adventures behind. They were doing well until the clutch stopped working. Hayden Vanstone has purchased his sons Sam winning buggy and was doing well until they had problems with oil not staying in the motor. Tony Whately was racing on his own track for the very first time and really enjoyed it even though he ran out of drive belts.
Bruce Muir was our only roll over for the weekend but lost so little time he still made 3 rd O/R and 1 st in class. 16 of the 29 starters classified as finishers, with 11 completing the whole 10 laps. Weather was absolutely spot on, conditions were a bit dusty, but all seemed to have smiles on their faces at the end of the day.
A huge thanks to our sponsors: Gawler Bodyworks, The Offroad Shop, Paul Frank, Nizencool Airconditioning, Gary Curtis, P&D Insulation, D&D Motors, and Unco Engineering, and to Tony Whateley and crew at the Loveday 4x4 Adventure Park for having us. 11 crews were GRKCC members.

Sad to hear about the passing of a past off road champion PAUL ZACKA. Paul was a very competitive Holden Rodeo driver. What a finsh to the weekend we were almost blown into the next state. As soon as the race finished we quickly packed up and did presentation before the rain came in.
The event was won by Carl Haby. Saturday's section was won by Aaron Haby but big brother Carl managed to peg back the time and went on to win the event overall. Ben Erceg came in 3rd outright. Wayne Goodwin had hs best result to date coming in 4th outright as the UTV Superlites were an invited class only.
Well that finishes it for the year, time for a break and concentrate on SAORRA Presentation, still needing confirmation from anyone who will be attending the presentation.

On a sad note Motor Sport and off road racing in particular lost one of it's most famous faces earlier this week to cancer with the passing of John Patterson.
John and Garry Connelly were responsible for the Kempsey International which in it's time was the biggest off road event in Australia. He eventually went on to become Event Director when Garry went on to Rally Australia. John was also involved in other high profile events. John was my Senior Steward when I was organising the Blue Lake City 400 in Mt. Gambier and we had a lot of laughs along with some serious decisions. He was also the Chairman of the Australian Off Road Commission (as it was known then) for many years ruffling a few feathers along the way, but I think he always had the sport at heart.
I am sure he will be sadly missed.
Our thoughts and best wishes to Sue and family.

South Australian former tin top off road racer Tony Wybrow also lost his battle with cancer this week. A member of ABC for many years Tony lived and worked in the Murray Bridge area and was always willing to help supplying the bread when ABC was organising CANTEEN day
Sincere best wishes to Tony's family .

EXCITING NEWS FOR THE 2015 SAORRA AWARDS PRESENTATION NIGHT
SAORRA is in negotiations with Chris Western & wife Caitlin to do a presentation on their Baja adventure
I am sure Chris & Caitlin will provide us with some very entertaining insights into this gruelling event.
Chris did an 'Ironman' by driving the Baja 1000 entirely on his own. He went through a couple of navigators though
Presentation will once again be at our new venue at the Central Districts Football Club
Bookings will be essential
Keep watching the SAORRA website for updates

He was followed home by Ben Erceg in 2nd with James Madden taking out 3rd place. Sam Daniele went on to take out 4th outright. 22 entries started the event with 19 completing all heats.Sundays weather was kind to the racers with the temperature droppng down to the mid to high 20's.

Regs added
The Offroad Shop - Sedan 'Top Track' Short Course event, being held by Gawler Road Knights Car Club, has 16 entries to date, and 7 of those entries are crews from GRKCC.
A working bee was held Saturday, and the pits and camping area will be closer to the catering van.
Scrutineering will be held Saturday, from 09:00 - 11.30 , and competition gets under way at 2:00pm
On Sunday, competition starts at 8:00 am .
Unless there is any rain this weekend, the track looks like it will be dusty, as usual. It will get better with time.
Vehicles will be put into heats, after a prologue starting at 1.00 pm Saturday, with the slower vehicle heats held first in each race. This will hopefully keep spectators at the track longer, and make for a more intriguing finish to the event.
Have tried very hard this event to get details out there, in the hope we may get more spectators out and about on either day, and several papers will be running a write up of the event.
The Sedan track entrance can be found 3km along Robertson Road, which is 6.5 km from Sedan, on the Sedan-Blanchetown road, and will be signposted for easy locating.
